Bedford River Festival – A Celebration Of The Best Of Bedford
The Bedford River Festival: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Sustainability
Every two years, our picturesque town of Bedford comes alive with vibrant festivities and a sense of community spirit during the Bedford River Festival.
This beloved event, which takes place along the banks of the River Great Ouse, has become a staple in the town's calendar, drawing visitors from far and wide to experience a unique blend of culture, entertainment, and environmental consciousness.
A Festival Rich in Tradition
The Bedford River Festival, first held in 1978, has grown into one of the largest free outdoor events in the UK.
The festival features an array of activities, including river races, parades, live music, arts and crafts, food stalls, and a spectacular fireworks display.
The event celebrates Bedford's rich history and its close relationship with the river, offering something for everyone, from families to thrill-seekers.
This year the sun finally decided to come out which made a great weekend for all.
One of the highlights of the festival was the traditional boat parade, where an array of decorated boats cruise along the river, showcasing creativity and community spirit.
The dragon boat races are another crowd favourite, bringing a competitive edge to the festivities as teams paddle fiercely to the finish line.
A Commitment to Sustainability
This year’s Bedford River Festival placed a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
With growing awareness of the need to protect our planet, the festival organisers implemented several green initiatives to minimise the event's environmental impact.
These included encouraging the use of reusable containers, providing recycling facilities, and promoting eco-friendly transportation options.
This commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with our mission at Energy Smart, where we provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to help property owners in Bedford improve their energy efficiency.
As the town gathered to celebrate its heritage and natural beauty, it was also an opportunity to reflect on how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
Energy Performance Certificates: Building a Greener Bedford
An Energy Performance Certificate is a vital tool in assessing the energy efficiency of a property.
By understanding how energy is used and where improvements can be made, homeowners can take steps to reduce their carbon footprint, save on energy bills, and contribute to the overall sustainability of our community.
At Energy Smart, we are proud to be a part of the community and support the residents of Bedford in providing comprehensive EPC assessments and guidance on making their homes more energy efficient.
As the Bedford River Festival celebrated the town's connection to the River Great Ouse, we were reminded of the importance of preserving our natural resources and promoting sustainable living.
